Château Cambon entered a new chapter in its history in 1995, when it was taken over by Marcel and Marie Lapierre (Domaine Lapierre), in partnership with Jean-Claude Chanudet (Domaine Chamonard). This visionary trio instilled a philosophy based on respect for the terroir and traditional working methods. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture and low-intervention winemaking laid the foundations for the estate's identity.
In a spirit of transmission and continuity, Alexandre Iwasuila joined the estate in 2022, bringing new energy while continuing this approach. Tasked with gradually taking over management, Alexandre perpetuates this philosophy by cultivating the vines and making wine with a deep respect for the environment, limiting interventions to allow the wine to best reflect its origins.
Château Cambon now spans 16 hectares of vines, with an average age of between 50 and 70 years. These plots produce wines in the Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Beaujolais Blanc, and Brouilly appellations. This wide range highlights the richness and diversity of the soils that make up the estate.
Located in the immediate vicinity of the Morgon appellation, Château Cambon benefits from a wide variety of terroirs. The plots lie on granite sandstone, clay, or schist soils, providing a variety of conditions conducive to growing Gamay grapes and producing wines that reflect their origins.
Particularly favourable years also allow for the cultivation of a century-old plot of high quality. Planted in 1914, it gives rise to the emblematic "Le Cambon" cuvée, a true tribute to the expertise and history of the estate. This cuvée, produced in limited quantities, reflects both the richness of the terroir and the estate's commitment to authentic and respectful viticulture.
