MALAUVA
ELISA CORTESE + GIOVANNI ADUA

The Casa Agricola Malauva is located in Castel Giorgio, on the edge of the Affina volcanic plateau. The project came to fruition in 2011, when the elisa + giovanni decided to leave their previous lives behind and dedicate body and soul to their closest and most reserved passion, that of cultivating life and take care of the earth. For 6 years they experimented with what it means to produce natural wine following philosophies that allow the vine and the chosen grape variety to perform in total autonomy without constraints or limitations. They learn techniques from the best without leaving out the details.

The various experiences lead the couple to fall more and more in love with organic viticulture, where the love for the vineyard through manual work and sophisticated processes based on human work and the help of technology leads them to think and rethink what winery they want to become. Only in 2017, they managed to understand who they really wanted to become and decided to buy an old farmhouse for renovation including 6 hectares of vines and woods. The experience acquired led the couple to understand the need to create an ecosystem where the vine was the queen and the surroundings protected it from possible atmospheric events and diseases that would have affected the fruit but above all its destiny.

The coexistence of multiple species in a single habitat has created the ideal opportunity to enrich one's wines with the tradition of a land that has often given joy in this sense. The wines produced come from Procanico, Trebbiano, Drupeggio and Sangiovese grapes, all vines that adapt very well to both wood and steel processing and respond well to the territorial characteristics and are vines that, grown according to organic farming, resist well both to the agents atmospheric and diseases.
